The Last Man was my final year project at university. It is a third-person action shooter built in the Unreal Development Kit (UDK).
Aliens have attacked and won. Human civilization is gone. The player controls what seems to be the last remaining human as he struggles to survive in the harsh environment he once knew as home.
The game features an almost entire set of custom assets, excluding the character, the HUD, Sky Dome, and the weapon effects like muzzle flash and projectiles. Everything else has been modelled and textured to create a unique visual style that combines elements of realism and cartoons, which helped to create a bleak and lonely atmosphere.
The submitted build was produced by a team of two within 4 months. I was responsible for handling the engine side of things, including importing assets, creating cinematics using Matinee, implementing Scaleform menus, level design and scripting using Kismet. I also produced most of the environment assets that were used.
